Last month we reviewed Eeny Meeny, M J Arlidge’s debut novel. This month our Book of the Month is Arlidge’s latest novel, A Gift For Dying. If you haven’t read it yet we give you the lowdown on all you need to know.
You are going to kill me!
In May this year I attended the fabulous Newcastle Noir where an author started to talk about his new book. I’m paraphrasing, but it went something like this:
“There are a series of murders, all unrelated and the only thing that seems to connect them is a girl. This psychologist speaks to the girl who says she was trying to warn them as she can tell when a person is going to die just from looking at them. The psychologist is disbelieving and asks the girl does she know when she is going to die? The girls answers ‘yes, you are going to do it’.
I was immediately hooked. The man was M J Arlidge, the book, A Gift For Dying.
A Gift For Dying – The Blurb
Nothing surprises Adam Brandt anymore. As a forensic psychologist, he’s seen and heard everything.
That is, until he meets Kassie.
Because she claims to have a terrible gift – with one look into your eyes, she can see when and how you will die.
Adam doesn’t believe her, obviously.
But then a serial killer starts wreaking havoc across the city, and only Kassie seems to know where he’ll strike next.
Against all his intuition, Adam starts to believe her.
He just doesn’t realise how dangerous this trust might be . . .
We will be sharing our Big Review of A Gift For Dying on 22nd November. A series of Book Club questions will also be around for you to answer on 21st. Don’t wait until then though, we would love to know your marks out of ten as soon as you have read it. So grab your copy and read along with us. In the meantime you can check out our October’s Book of the Month, The Familiars, here.
