However you spend the last Bank Holiday before Christmas (eek!) we have a book to match it!
Binging on a Box Set
If you plan on nothing more that catching up on the latest Box Set why not try a Book Set instead? Game of Thrones or Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander are both epic in nature. but have very watchable box sets to take over when it gets too much. Not your cup of tea? There is always The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series by Stieg Larsson, the book where it all began for Book Social.
Taking the chance to grab a couple of days away? Make the most of it with a travel guide to ensure you get the most out of any city. We’ve moved on from the bulky, determinedly non fiction guides of the past to the more beautiful, literary (and hand luggage friendly) modern takes. We just love ‘Lost In Florence‘ about the best places to eat, drink and explore in the Tuscan Capital.
In the kitchen
The dreamy, chocolate filled ‘Modern Baking’ by Donna Hay will have you reaching for the coconut oil in no time but if the actual thought of cooking is too daunting, drool over ‘Tortellini at Midnight‘ instead. Part memoir, part recipe book it’s a thing of beauty and just look at those crepe edges!
Well it wouldn’t be a Bank Holiday without a bit of DIY now would it? Down your sledge hammer and treat yourself instead to ‘Pink House Living’ choc full of inspiration on how you too can decorate with pink and other happy-making hues. The pictures are gorgeous and it’s a lot less stressful than tiling.
Write that story
Always fancied but never tried? Well a Bank Holiday is the perfect time to start. If you’re suffering from writers block you need ‘The Writer’s Map‘. Full of maps used and loved by authors such as Tolkien, Rowling and Elphinstone it will have you creating your very own fantasy world in no time.
Well it is Bank Holiday! If you’re too ill to move, flip through ‘Things to do Before A Monday’ with a smug smile that you have until Tuesday before you need to feel fully human again. Will you build a pillow fort? Wear nothing but socks and red lips, or volunteer at an animal shelter? The perfect cure for Monday Blues and hangover ails.
