A look at upcoming Hexham Book Festival

Hexham Book Festival 2019

The Hexham Book Festival returns for its 13th year on 26th April. It’s all set to be chocked full of food, farming, assassins, booze, bicycles, oh and o course books! We pick out our highlights below.

Something for everyone

For history fans there is Rosemary Goring, author of the very excellent, Scotland, The Autobiography Kids will not be bored with several events planned including children’s poet laureate Michael Rosen who will be performing some of his favourite poems. There are writing workshops, a 101 in champagne drinking and even a forage along the banks of Devil’s Water! The celebrity spotters amongst us will also love to…spot, Bake Off Judge Prue Leith and Coast star Neil Oliver.

Spring is in the air

Coast isn’t the only nature reference at the festival. Female farmers Amanda Owen and Sally Urwin, author of our recently reviewed A Farmer’s Diary will be takinga break from lambing to also attend.

Pick of the event

If all that isn’t enough Graeme MacRae Burnett will be discussing his new book, The Accident on the A35. The Festival is encouraging Book Club’s to attend or take part by reading the book together. We’re a fan of anything Book Clubby and if the book is anything like His Bloody Project it will be good.
